About One World
(My World View)
"One World" is a phrase
that captures my personal and professional view of
life and our place, characteristics, relationships,
and behaviors within it. The focus is on the
"one", emphasizing that:
- Every thing is directly
inter-connected and an integral component of
something bigger, on multiple levels extending to
infinity (and beyond)
- Every thing is a unique
manifestation of the culmination of the entire
history of the universal creative process
- Everything is the seed of its
own, and everything else's, future
These statements are representative
of "Oneness".
The first statement means that "everything is
the same". The second statement means that
"everything is different". The third
statement means that "everything is
interdependent". In all things there are
boundaries that distinguish one thing from another,
although these boundaries between things do not mean
there is separation between things. For
example, the statements "there is no separate
death", "death is a unique
experience", "there is no separate
life", and "life is a unique
expression" all illustrate Oneness.
How many of our species deeply understand and operate
from these statements?
I submit that there is only one
thing in the world, as the mystics have known and the
physicists are proving and beginning to apply.
Separation between things in the world is
illusion. This illusion of separation has
existed from the time our species gained
"knowledge of good and evil", the time in
our evolutionary progression when we began to
distinguish, symbolize, name, characterize, and
categorize ("kind-of" and
"part-of" relations) things in the
world. The illusion of separation has utility
for our species in allowing us to deal with the
complexities our experience brings us. It is
the foundation of our intellectual progress.
But this same illusion of separation, when expressed
as a self-deluded belief in "separation as
real", is the cause of our fear (fear of what's
different, fear of being excluded). Accepting
and expressing Oneness reduces fear because it
reduces the false belief in separation between
people, and between people and their
environment. We can believe in Oneness, and
still utilize separation.
It seems there is a normal
progression and evolution in intellect from
understanding oneness spiritually, then
scientifically, and then societally.
Through day to day practical experience our sciences
and our society are coming to understand and practice
that which has been known to many spiritual explorers
and to many intuitive, imaginative, and creative
persons like artists and children, from the beginning
of our intellectual existence. As illustrated
above, the Zen Buddhist expression "Everything
is different, everything is same" conveys a
spiritual understanding of "oneness" that
has existed from before our species' first word, and
this expression is intended to reduce fear and
confusion in those pondering it. Or consider
the science of Bohm's "Implicate Order" for
the same effect. Practical societal
situations where "oneness" is applied are
seen in "organizations" in general, from
small groups up to the United Nations, and in
upcoming Year 2000 computer date error events that
will disrupt our control systems and our society to a
probably small, but potentially large, degree.
Even some of our religious institutions teach
Oneness, and some actually practice it .
Prayer Treatment: In
the great Oneness called God, the world is one, as
are we all one. Therefore, from the infinitely
creative good potential of Oneness, comes an
appropriate and timely peace and realization of
Oneness in the hearts, minds, and spirit of the world's people, and a corresponding peace and
realization of Oneness in those whom they wage separatism and wars
and personal acts. And so it is. Thanks to
God.

Declaration of War on Civilization
Stand
Up for Civilization!
Barbarians have declared war on the Nation
most capable of leading mankind into a future of aware
Unity, giving our species guaranteed freedoms of individual
creativity and expression in line with aware responsibility
for our impacts on each other.
I submit that their
war is not about religion, country, nation, tradition, or
ethnic identity - it is primarily about a few people who
have separated themselves from the larger world given to us
every changing day, who are extremely fearful of change, and
therefore who are extremely hateful when seeking to retain
or gain control through use of violence and threats over
those that in turn fear them. It is a war as old as
humanity.
Humanity must
understand that this age-old war has now become a global armed
conflict between our advancing law-based global
civilization, and those who seek to retard and reverse its
advance back to rule by decree, then feudalism, then
tribalism, and and then barbarism. It is between those
who adapt to the evolving new ways and those fear the loss
of the old ways. It is about our species' evolution
versus its devolution - about increasing unity versus
increasing separation.
The only thing our
Nation, the world, and our species need fear is the fear
itself. Fear is the primary instrument of evil.
Evil is the belief by a person or group that they are
separate from other persons, and their actions based on that
belief. That belief in separation is the true
enemy, and those who act on that belief are its instruments,
and it doesn't matter what their cause, they have chosen to
be the enemy of civilization!
Comments on the Twin Towers and
Pentagon Attacks - 911 (09/11/01)
Part of the U.S. strength is its believe in God, as individually and freely worshipped by all our
population. Another part of our strength lies in the fact that our worship does not interfere with
our governance by law. Our religious morality manifests indirectly in our laws,
adopted/implemented/enforced through our series of checks and balances defined in the constitution
and carried out by our three houses of government. When any group's religious morality becomes
increasingly dominant and leads to increasing religiously-motivated weakness in that series of
checks and balances (e.g., a religiously motivated/constrained government decision maker, and/or
lawmaking group, and/or law enforcing group), we experience increasing degrees of first suppression,
then oppression, and then rebellion.
This willful act of evil clearly illustrates why personal and family religion must be separated from
public authority around the globe. Religious and other zealots often begin to express the first
evil by believing in an Us Versus Them "separation" from others, and thus feel justified in their
devotion when seeking to "correct and control" others' beliefs and actions. When zealots gain
economic, then political, and then military power, all those outside their ardor have to expect the
need to protect themselves, in action, proaction, and reaction. We have seen this throughout the
slow evolution of our species' history from animal rule, to tribal rule, to barbaric rule, to
feudal rule, to empirial/ religious rule, to rule of law, and eventually to the rule of oneness. The rule
of oneness will be a world where individuality is cherished and separation is diminished - where we
have infinite diversity within an aware unity. Achieving this rule of oneness is one of my life's motivations, primarily focused on bringing about
the "aware unity" through the application of information technology to the management of contextual
awareness at the individual, group, organizational, and global level. Instead of advancing to a
rule of oneness, many seek to retreat from law to a rule of religion, empire,
feudal domain, barbarism, tribe, and even animalism.
Now is time for our action to Recognize and Accept that the morality of our internally and
internationally practiced civil rights does not preclude us from both proactively and reactively
taking measures to swiftly, fully, and repeatedly destroy those individuals, groups, and
governments who have gone rogue by openly declaring war on us and the other countries in our global law-based
civilization, whether they are internal (e.g., Timothy McVeigh) or external (e.g., individuals and
groups from around the world). As I believe one Supreme Court Justice was quoted yesterday: "The
Bill of Rights is not a Suicide Pact". In my view, freedom of expression
does not include freedom of implementation. Expression must be freely made from the infinite viewpoints present in our
world. Implementation must be made only from a viewpoint of harming no other.
While normally a humanist and strong defender of our civil rights (i.e., my motivation for military
and civil service), in terms of civil and national security I have always held very strong views,
and thus my belief that "openly declared terrorists/predators have no more right to live and express
their will than a rabid or invasive animal". I may feel for their humanity and sympathize and want
to correct the plight that brought them to the point of emotionally and irrationally choosing this
basic evil of using terror. However, once their choice for separation/evil over civilization is
made and declared, it is the responsibility of all citizens and governments to contain, correct, and
if needed, destroy them for the larger good, as we would an invasive predator or rabid animal.
From this point, we must teach to all generations that only the rule by a civilization of law and
oneness is allowed with their primary instruments being law and awareness respectively, and that
rule by evil and its primary instrument of fear is to be totally rejected and forcefully removed
from our world.
Comments on the Healing of
Serbia. (02/20/08)
I believe the events in Kosovo, and
in the former Yugoslavia over the past several years,
are all a direct result of the strong feeling of
separation present in the culture of the
Serbian people. This feeling
of separation from everyone around them and from God,
and subsequent disintegrative words and actions of
ethnic Serbs, are primarily a fearful reaction to the
loss their nation suffered over 600 years ago in the
Field of the Blackbirds, in modern Kosovo, where
their entire military force was destroyed in a war
with an Islamic military force. This unhealed
emotional wound, and cultural and personal fear
associated with that wound, has been the direct cause
of the Serbian culture's nationalism, and to a degree
increasing with each violent act against non-Serbs
and with the rise of a Serbian dictatorial
government, of Serbian fascism. We all protect
a remembered wound, sometimes long after a physical
wound has healed. Getting past the fear
of being re-wounded, and the anger at having been
wounded, is part of healing. Remember that
World War I, and the subsequent World War II, were
triggered by an assassination, by a Serbian
extremist, of the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand who
then ruled Serbia. I believe that unless the
world's Serbian people, under the teachings of their
Orthodox Christian faith, can be healed of their
ethnic belief in separation and their fear, by them
forgiving those throughout history from whom they
want to separate, then further disintegration of
Oneness for our species will occur. The time
for their sadness over past loss is long gone.
Serbian forgiveness and acceptance of God's Oneness
with all around them is needed.
